TPPF releases report on reviving restorative justice in Texas

Derek Cohen, policy analyst at the Texas Public Policy Foundation's Center for Effective Justice, today released the report entitled "Reviving Restorative Justice: A Blueprint for Texas," in which he explains how Texas' current criminal justice system identifies the state as the victim of a crime, and that the actual victim plays too small of a role in the process. As a solution to this legal tradition, Cohen presents the case for Texas to adopt the restorative justice model, allowing the objective of the system to be the restoration of justice to the victim.

ICYMI: TPPF’s Rollins and Davidson in National Review Online on the left’s attack on free speech

AUSTIN – Texas Public Policy Foundation President and CEO Brooke Rollins and Health Care Policy Analyst John Davidson authored The Left’s Coordinated Assault on Free Speech in Friday’s National Review Online. From the piece: “Recently the left-wing British newspaper the Guardian published funding proposals that were privately submitted to the State Policy Network (SPN) — a nonprofit group that coordinates state-level efforts to enact free-market reforms — by state-based think tanks. The Guardian justified its actions on the grounds that the public needs ‘full and fair access’ to the conservative groups’ plans, ‘to allow the public to reach its own conclusions about whether these activities comply with the spirit of non-profit tax-exempt charities.’ … “But the real purpose of the Guardian’s hit piece is far more disturbing than any corporatist conspiracy theory: It is meant to undermine the freedoms of expression and association that all Americans enjoy under the First and Fourteenth Amendments." Brooke Rollins and John Davidson are available to further discuss how free speech is threatened. To schedule interviews please contact Kristen Indriago at [email protected] or 512.472.2700.
