AUSTIN – Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation joined with conservative leaders and legal scholars from across the nation to commend Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Judiciary Committee member Sen. John Cornyn for the unprecedented number of judges who have been confirmed to the federal judiciary, and to urge speedy confirmation for remaining nominees.

“The quality of the pending nominees and confirmed judges is outstanding,” the letter reads. “The confirmation of constitutionalist judges to these lifetime appointments will impact our nation for decades to come and will be the lasting legacy of this period in history.”

But, the letter also urges expedited confirmation for the 85 pending nominees.

“We must have the Senate working 24/7 to accomplish this goal of confirming all pending nominees,” the letter explains. “The rules currently require the Senate to consider a nominee for thirty hours after cloture is invoked. This time should be reduced to keep the process moving forward and to allow judicial nominees to be confirmed in a timely manner.”

TPPF is joined by Kelly Shackelford of the First Liberty Institute, Cristen Wohlgemuth of Mountain States Legal Foundation, Tim Chapman of Heritage Action for America, Braden Boucek of the Beacon Center, John Eastman of the Claremont Institute, Christian Adams of the Public Interest Legal Foundation, Jon Riches of the Goldwater Institute, Allan Parker of The Justice Foundation, Kimberly Hermann of the Southeastern Legal Foundation and Maurice Thompson of the 1851 Center for Constitutional Law.
