Opposition to school choice has nothing to do with money, popularity, geography, academic results, or even political party. It’s about control. Empowering parents with choice more evenly distributes who has influence over the content and quality of a child’s education, and the people who have all the power now don’t like that. Perhaps they just think they know better than parents, but it can no longer be the roadblock for denying generations of students – particularly low-income and underserved kids – the opportunity they and their parents deserve.
The Midland Liberty Leadership Council* invites you and a friend to a panel discussion featuring a conversation on the state of parent empowerment in Texas. Join local Midlanders Aaron Kinsey (Texas State Board of Education) and Brandon Hodges (MISD School Board Member); both are involved in the battle to give Midland and all Texas kids the opportunity to learn safely while putting parents back in the driver’s seat of their child’s education. With a special session on the horizon for this crucial issue, how can we work together to ensure all Texas children receive a quality education while guaranteeing parents the respect they deserve?
- Aaron Kinsey—Texas State Board of Education, District 15
- Brandon Hodges—MISD School Board Member, District 5
- Moderated by Austin Prochko—Texas Public Policy Foundation
