Poverty often seems to be a vicious cycle from which only a lucky few are able to escape. However, it doesn’t have to be—this perception is mainly due to failed federal policies. Positive reform to our system of social safety nets needs to come from the state level, where legislators and activists are closer to the people they are trying to help. Join us as TPPF’s Economist Daniel Sanchez-Pinol leads a livestream panel discussion on what Texas legislators and concerned citizens can do to help fix our broken welfare system.
Speakers
- Daniel Sánchez-Piñol (Moderator) – Economist, Texas Public Policy Foundation
- The Honorable Candy Noble (Panelist) – Texas State Representative (TX-89)
- Rachel Fulcher-Dawson (Panelist) – Associate Director of Dissemination and Policy, Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities
- Randy Hicks (Panelist) – President and Chief Executive Officer, Georgia Center For Opportunity
The livestream can be viewed Thursday, 12/08 at 12PM CT via the following links. Watch via YouTube to submit your questions during the live Q&A.
