AUSTIN – Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation congratulated Peggy Venable, who currently serves as a senior visiting fellow, on her selection as the new appointments director for Gov. Greg Abbott.

“Peggy has long been a champion for the people of Texas, both in official government roles and in grassroots movements,” said Dr. Kevin Roberts, executive vice president of TPPF. “While we will miss working with Peggy at the Foundation, we know she will serve Texas admirably in her new role.”

Gov. Abbott announced Venable’s new role and other staff changes at a press conference earlier this afternoon.

Before joining TPPF, Venable was the Americans for Prosperity's Texas director for 10 years.

She was named to the University Star Hall of Fame at Texas State University and the national magazine Campaign and Elections named her as one of the top 25 Texas influencers.

A native Texan, Venable spent 13 years in Washington, D.C.  She served as the first White House Liaison for the U.S. Department of Education under Ronald Reagan.  She also previously served as senior staff at the Republican National Committee and was Director of the Republican National Convention in 1984.
