AUSTIN- In his State of the State address, Gov. Abbott declared the Texas Cyber Command an emergency item for the Texas Legislature. Due to Texas’ vibrant economy, leadership in oil production, and status as a trade hub, the Lone Star State is a significant target for cyber attacks from hostile, foreign nations. Gov. Abbott’s prioritization of the Texas Cyber Command rightly elevates this as a top legislative priority, tasking lawmakers with combatting this threat before the 89th Legislature adjourns.
“Gov. Abbott’s declaration of the Texas Cyber Command as an emergency item demonstrates his bold leadership and commitment to enhance the security of Texas and push back on the cyber threats posed by China and other foreign adversaries,” said TPPF’s David Dunmoyer. “Ultimately, this will position Texas as the envy of the world with cyber defense and resilience, creating a model for other states to follow. TPPF looks forward to working with Rep. Giovanni Capriglione and Sen. Tan Parker to see this vision through to the finish line.”
