AUSTIN – Today, the House Committee on Public Education, under the leadership of Chairman Brad Buckley, passed the Committee Substitute for SB 2 (CSSB2) out of committee and to the floor of the Texas House. This is only the second time in over a decade that school choice is headed to the floor of the House, and TPPF looks forward to the coming debate.

“This is a pivotal moment for the children and parents of Texas,” said TPPF CEO Greg Sindelar. “Chairman Buckley and House Speaker Dustin Burrows have repeatedly reaffirmed their commitment to empowering parents, and this puts the children of Texas one step closer to education freedom.”

“The upcoming debate on the floor of the Texas House will be one for the history books,” said TPPF’s Next Generation Texas Campaign Director, Mandy Drogin. “I’m sure that we’ll see a strong majority of state representatives standing with children, parents, the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, and the Speaker to empower Texas’ more than 6 million children with the ability to choose the school that best fits their educational needs.”
