AUSTIN – Today, the Texas Senate concurred with the House’s changes to SB 2, which will establish Education Savings Accounts that every Texas family will have the opportunity to access. The bill now heads to Governor Abbott’s desk for signing.

“After decades of work from thousands of leaders, voters, and elected officials, Texas is joining the ranks of dozens of other states that have established school choice programs,” said TPPF’s CEO, Greg Sindelar. “We, along with the millions of parents and students of Texas, are incredibly grateful for the leadership of Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, Chairman Brandon Creighton, and Chairman Brad Buckley on getting this vital piece of legislation across the finish line.”

“This is a lifechanging moment for every single one of Texas’ 6.3 million kids,” said Next Generation Campaign Texas Director, Mandy Drogin. “School choice is a rising tide that lifts all boats, and every kid in Texas will benefit from it, whether they utilize an ESA or not. By concurring with the House’s changes, Lieutenant Governor Patrick and Chairman Creighton have ensured that this bill gets to Governor Abbott’s desk quickly—and for that, millions of Texas parents and students are grateful!”
