AUSTIN – Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation announced Brian Phillips as the new vice president of communications.

“We’re thrilled Brian is joining the team,” said Brooke Rollins, President and CEO of TPPF. “His reputation for effective communication at the highest levels of policy debates reflects exactly the type of talent that has made TPPF so strong. Brian will no doubt help us blaze new trails as we work to sustain the Texas Model – and export it around the nation.”

Phillips began his political communications career at the Heritage Foundation in Washington D.C. before going to the Tax Foundation. He then worked on a variety of political campaigns before serving as communications director for Sen. Mike Lee for more than four years. In 2015, Phillips joined the Cruz for President campaign as director of rapid response. Most recently, he worked for WPA Intelligence.

“Brian’s Texas roots and extensive experience in national politics are perfect for leading our communications team,” said Kevin Roberts, executive vice president of TPPF.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join TPPF at this time,” said Phillips. “Many of the issues Texas faces are the same major challenges the country deals with. From energy and education to individual liberty and economic prosperity, we have an extraordinary opportunity to lead at the national level, as well.”

Phillips grew up in the Austin area and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He joins other recent hires in the TPPF communications team.

Alicia Pierce joined TPPF as communications director in April after serving in the same position in the Texas Secretary of State’s office. Before her time at the Secretary’s office she worked in the Texas Senate, gaining a strong understanding of the Texas Legislature.

Sarah Silberstein joined the team as communications associate in July following her graduation from the University of Texas. She was previously a reporter for the Liberty Hill Independent.

Alex Billups joined the team as associate filmmaker in August.
