AUSTIN – Matthew Ladner, Ph.D., Senior Fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Education Policy, will testify before the House Public Education Committee in favor of House Bill 3319 on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., or on adjournment, in room E2.036 of the Texas State Capitol. The bill raises the open enrollment charter school cap by 10 charters per year.

“HB 3319 takes a strong step toward providing more public open enrollment charter school opportunities in Texas,” said Ladner. “An uncapped charter system is the ideal in terms of creating a competitive education market.  But raising the cap incrementally generates flexibility and begins to address the needs of the more than 100,000 Texas students waiting to attend open enrollment charter schools.”
