AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation is pleased to announced that author, entrepreneur, and media mogul Steve Forbes will deliver the opening keynote address at the 13th Annual Policy Orientation for the Texas Legislature. Mr. Forbes’ address will come at the opening luncheon of the Policy Orientation, Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. CST in the Ballroom at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol.

Best known as the founder of Forbes magazine and Forbes.com, Mr. Forbes’ public service efforts began in 1985 as a Reagan appointee to the Board for International Broadcast. As Chairman, Mr. Forbes and the organization produced Radio Free Europe—the West’s voice of liberty in communist Europe. In 1996 and 2000 Mr. Forbes ran for the Republican nomination for President of the United States on a platform advocating for the flat tax, medical savings accounts, Social Security reform, and school choice—issues he still champions today.

“We are privileged to welcome Steve Forbes to Policy Orientation 2015,” said Brooke Rollins, President & CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation. “Long recognized for his keen economic understanding and foresight, Mr. Forbes has championed economic and intellectual freedom through his advocacy of a flat tax and parental choice in education—issues near and dear to the heart of Texans. His presence at Policy Orientation 2015 is a tremendous opportunity for Texans to hear valuable and strategic insights for the continued resounding success of the Texas Model.”

For thirteen years, the Foundation’s Policy Orientation has been one of the nation’s top policy conferences, selling out each year while bringing together lawmakers, policy experts, and engaged citizens from across the political spectrum to discuss critical issues facing the Lone Star State and America. Last year’s Policy Orientation attracted approximately 700 attendees including nearly 100 state legislators and hundreds of legislative staff from both sides of the aisle.

This year’s program includes 35 panel discussions and debates on the major issues affecting Texas’ future. Members of the public and media who wish to attend may register and view the agenda at: www.PolicyOrientation.com
