AUSTIN, TX – Today the Texas Education Agency released ratings for school districts based on the new A-F ratings.

Kara Belew, senior education advisor for the Texas Public Policy Foundation offered the following statement:

“Millions of Texas children are reading below grade level. The new easy-to-understand A-F school district ratings mean parents can now understand if children are learning and growing academically at their schools and advocate for their children,” said Belew. “Additionally, it will encourage all school districts to achieve more for their students, and focus on schools where students need extra support.”

Belew is the former deputy commissioner for finance at the Texas Education Agency and previously served as Gov. Greg Abbott’s budget director.
