“I’ve been in Texas since 1998 and I always told my husband he’d have to drag me out of the promised land kicking and screaming because I’ll never leave Texas quietly. But with my property taxes going up so much I may not have to leave – I’ll be pushed out.
Texas is taxing us out of our homes and it’s to the point where I don’t even know when, or if, my husband will be able to retire. My taxes are almost as high as my mortgage, which isn’t sustainable for us as we near retirement.”
The legislature needs to do something, and they need to do something now.
