The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s (TPPF) Fueling Freedom Project Director Brad Zarin issued the following statement in response to the recent approval of the Keystone XL pipeline.

“We are thrilled by the formal approval of the Keystone XL pipeline,” said Zarin. “This will lead to thousands of new jobs across the United States and provide for the safe and affordable transfer of oil and natural gas while making America more energy secure. This kind of decision is exactly what the Foundation wants to see happen to facilitate economic growth and job prosperity in America.”

The State Department today issued a permit allowing the pipeline proposed by TransCanada to go forward. The project is expected to ship around 800,000 barrels of oil a day from Canada's tar sands to Gulf Coast refineries.
