“At long last, our country has the opportunity to halt Environmental Protection Agency's imperious, lawless, and job-killing rule over our economy," said White. "Genuine environmental protection, economic growth, and job creation are interdependent. After decades of environmental improvements, the U.S. is now equipped to take full advantage of our energy bounty with environmental sensitivity."
“Disaster has been averted with the President’s Executive Order directing the repeal of the Clean Power Plan,” said Henneke. “Unilateral adoption of the Clean Power Plan was never within the authority of the EPA. This Executive Order respects the separation of powers established under the Constitution and returns the responsibility for policymaking to Congress – not unaccountable federal bureaucrats.”
“We applaud the Administration’s continued commitment to supporting energy development and job creation in America," said Zarin. "By removing the most stringent regulations on new and existing power plants ever put into effect, we are protecting our security and economy as we become energy leaders, rather than followers.”
“The Clean Power Plan is EPA regulatory overreach at its most egregious,” said Hadzi-Antich. “Nothing in the Clean Air Act allows EPA to broadly regulate the entire energy sector, yet the Clean Power Plan regulates all aspects of the industry, from production and distribution to retail sales and use, trampling on the Constitutional rights of states to determine how best to provide for the energy needs of their residents. This was done by the Obama Administration in the name of regulating carbon dioxide, a ubiquitous natural substance essential to life on Earth. The Clean Power Plan needs to be rescinded.”
