Texas Public Policy Foundation President and CEO Brooke Rollins, Executive Vice President Kevin Roberts, Ph.D., and Economist Vance Ginn, Ph.D. will testify before the Texas Senate Education Committee today in support of education choice achieved through education savings accounts (ESAs) in SB 3.

"27 years ago, the Texas Public Policy Foundation was founded on this one simple principle – parental choice,” said Rollins. “This is a simple concept: every child learns differently so why not allow them to learn in an environment where parents know they will thrive? Texas is behind 30 other states, which already have some form of parental choice. In a state that continues to succeed based on competition and free-market principles, this concept has become anything but simple, yet we are losing generations of children in order to protect the status quo.”

“Our Foundation staff are proud to be testifying on behalf of Texas schoolchildren, each of whom deserves an opportunity to flourish in the best education available to them,” said Roberts. “With Texas’ educational outcomes stagnant in spite of years of increased spending, it’s past time to innovate for the sake of these children’s futures.”

“Education choice is a smart and sound investment that Texas can make to grow the state’s economy and build a stronger society,” said Ginn. “The freedom to choose in education and teacher labor markets through ESAs will benefit students, teachers, and all Texans. By creating an education system for the future, Texas can become a leader and set the bar for other states to follow.”
