AUSTIN – Late Thursday night, the White House announced the intent of President Donald Trump to nominate Kathleen Hartnett White to be a member of the Council on Environmental Quality and upon confirmation, designate her as chair.

“Throughout her career Kathleen has served Texans as a strong leader, in particular by ensuring that Texans have the energy and natural resources they need to prosper,” said Brooke Rollins, President and CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, where White currently serves as distinguished senior fellow and director of the Armstrong Center for Energy and the Environment. “We at TPPF congratulate Kathleen on this important opportunity and know she will serve our nation with the same thoughtfulness, determination and common sense that have been her hallmarks in Texas.”

Previously, White was Chairman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. She has also served as Commissioner on multiple state agencies and private non-profits, including the Lower Colorado River Authority and Texas Water Development Board.

White served on Trump’s economic advisory council during his campaign.

Her work has been recognized through awards from the Texas Water Conservation Association, Colorado River Foundation and Texas Chemical Council.

A native of Kansas, White received her bachelor cum laude and master degrees from Stanford University. Her academic awards include the E.W. Lyman Scholarship for Outstanding Woman in the Humanities and Fellowships with Princeton University and Texas Tech University School of Law.
