The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s (TPPF) Chip Roy, Director of the Center for Tenth Amendment Action, and Dr. Deane Waldman, Director of the Center for Healthcare Policy, issued the following statement on the passage of Senate Concurrent Resolution 1 out of the Texas Senate Health and Human Services Committee. The resolution calls on Congress to fulfill its promise and fully repeal Obamacare:

“I applaud the Texas Senate Health and Human Services Committee for its blunt and straightforward call on Congress to fully repeal Obamacare,” said Roy. “Obamacare has been a catastrophe resulting in skyrocketing costs, rising premiums, and onerous federal mandates that have forced millions of Texans into harsh financial situations while also diminishing the overall quality of care. Congress’ half-hearted attempt to partially repeal Obamacare last week has thankfully been prevented through the actions of courageous conservatives in the House Freedom Caucus. It is my hope that the Texas Senate quickly acts to pass this resolution, and that Congress heeds the call of the Texas Senate, listens to the millions of Americans desperately seeking relief from Washington’s centralized control over our healthcare system, and finally repeals all of Obamacare.”

“The Texas Senate is sending an important message to its congressional delegation and reaffirmed what millions of Texans already know: Obamacare is failing and its federalized control over care has put the interests of bureaucrats ahead of patients,” said Dr. Waldman, who testified before the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. “Congress should do what it promised, fully repeal Obamacare, and let Texas take the lead in determining what’s best for its patients, doctors, and citizens.”
