Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Bryan Mathew, policy analyst with the Center for Local Governance, issued the following statement on House Bill 100. The bill, which passed the House today, would set a statewide policy on ridesharing.

“Local governments have been driving out ridesharing companies with onerous regulations,” said Mathew. “These regulations substantially raise the cost of providing service while offering little to no public safety benefit. The passage of HB 100 takes us one step closer to ending the patchwork system of over-regulation and moves us toward a freer, more open market.”
