AUSTIN – Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation announced Doug Deason and Ryan Haggerty as new members of TPPF’s board of directors.
 
“Both Doug and Ryan are accomplished business leaders who are committed to promoting liberty in Texas and beyond,” said Brooke Rollins, president and CEO of TPPF. “We at TPPF are thrilled they are lending us their insight, support and direction as members of our board. With leaders like Doug and Ryan, TPPF will continue to have a profound effect on the policies that shape our future.”
 
Deason specifically cited his previous experience work with TPPF as a motivator to serve on the board.
 
“It has been a pleasure working over the last few years with the TPPF team on a variety of issues including criminal justice reform, K-12 education reform and title insurance industry deregulation,” said Deason. “It will be an honor to serve on the board with the passionate patriots who serve at every level of this policy organization.”
 
Haggerty spoke about TPPF’s long-term mission.
 
“It is an honor to be named to the board of directors of TPPF,” said Haggerty. “I look forward to serving alongside Brooke and the incredible leaders on the board to keep Texas strong and continue forward the mission Dr. Leininger created many years ago.”

Doug Deason
Doug Deason is the President of Deason Capital Services, LLC. DCS manages a diversified portfolio of public and private assets including a large portfolio of public equity and debt securities and hedge funds, and private equity and real estate holdings that include direct and fund based holdings in private equity, private debt, oil and gas, real estate and other assets. 
 
Prior to joining DCS, Deason was CEO of Precept Builders, Inc., a nationwide commercial builder, from 1993 to 2009 and co-managing partner of Evergreen Realty Partners, a commercial and multifamily development company based in Dallas. He also previously served as CEO of Precept Business Services, a NASDAQ listed services firm. Deason serves on the advisory board of Valesco Industries, a Dallas based private equity fund, the executive board of The School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University (SMU), the advisory board of MD Anderson Cancer Center, and is chairman of the advisory board of The Institute for Cyber Security at SMU.
 
Over his career, Deason has served on numerous boards including both private and public companies as well as charitable organizations and private schools
 
Deason is an outspoken advocate for criminal justice reform in Texas and in Washington, D.C., and was responsible for groundbreaking legislation being passed in support of reform in Texas in 2015. He holds a degree in Data Processing Quantitative Analysis (Computer Science) from the University of Arkansas.
 
Ryan Haggerty
Ryan Haggerty is investment manager for the Estate of Bert Fields, Jr. The late Mr. Fields, an enthusiastic Heritage Foundation member for more than two decades, emphasized to Haggerty the importance of promoting free-market values, limited government, and the ability of every citizen to live the American dream. The Estate’s business units include banking, oil and gas, ranching, and real estate.
 
Haggerty is also a managing member of Clear Fork Royalty, an oil and gas royalty fund that he founded with his father-in-law and brother-in-law in 2011. Deeply involved in Fort Worth civic affairs, Haggerty was elected president of the Young Leaders Council in 2010. He also serves as immediate past-chairman of the Board of Managers for the Downtown Fort Worth YMCA; is a member of the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate, which raises money for 4-H and FFA youth throughout the state of Texas; and serves as treasurer on the board of the 12.48 Foundation, which raises money to support at-risk youth in the Como Neighborhood of Fort Worth.
 
He was named by the Fort Worth Business Press as a Forty Under Forty in 2015. He has a BA from Baylor University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
 
Haggerty is married to Regan and they are the proud parents of Collin and Caroline. The Haggertys are active at Christ Chapel Bible Church where Ryan serves as Deacon.
