AUSTIN – Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation outlined an approach to law enforcement improvement in a paper entitled “The Conservative Case for Policing Reforms.”
“Support for our police officers is a proud characteristic of the conservative movement and positions conservatives well to make reasonable reforms when needed,” said the paper’s author Randy Petersen, a senior researcher with Right on Crime and the Center for Effective Justice at Texas Public Policy Foundation. “Policing is a core function of government and is subject to the same high standard conservatives place on all government entities.”
The paper details a conservative philosophy behind policing reforms with the police as a core function of government requiring oversight, accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
