AUSTIN – Today, the Texas Workforce Commission released labor market data for Texas in December 2017. The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s director of the Center for Economic Prosperity and senior economist, Dr. Vance Ginn issued the following statement:

“The Texas model continues to prove it’s not a miracle but rather a sustainable economic framework supporting prosperity as employers created more jobs for the eighth straight year,” said Dr. Ginn. “In 2017, net nonfarm jobs increased by 306,900 for a 2.5 percent annual growth rate. Texas employers have now created jobs in 82 of the last 87 months, and the state’s unemployment rate of 3.9 percent has been at or below 5 percent for 42 consecutive months. When other states and DC search for best policy practices, they shouldn’t look any further than Texas.”
