AUSTIN – Director of the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s (TPPF) Center for Health Care Policy John Davidson will testify before the Texas House Human Services Committee TODAY, Monday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m. CST or upon adjournment in room E2.030 in the Texas State Capitol. Davidson will testify in favor of SB 219, which relates to the provision of health and human services in Texas, including the powers and duties of the Health and Human Services Commission and other state agencies.

“This bill addresses substantial inconsistencies reaching across nine codes and 262 chapters of state law. Despite its size, this bill—unlike other Sunset bills that will follow— makes no policy changes,” said Davidson. “It has been 16 years since the last Sunset Review of health and human services, and a code clarification bill is long overdue. Clean statutory language is needed if lawmakers want to accomplish structural reform of health and human services through the Sunset Review process.”
