AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation issued the following statement on Governor Rick Perry's veto of Senate Bill 346:
"The Governor did the right and courageous thing in vetoing Senate Bill 346 today," said Executive Director Arlene Wohlgemuth, "This bill would have had a chilling effect on our Constitutional freedom of association that we all cherish as Texans and as Americans. With the sad example of an out-of-control Washington, D.C., and especially the Internal Revenue Service, abusing that liberty in the name of political agendas, it is heartening to know that our Governor will chart the opposite course, and stand strong to protect our liberties."
