Discussion of one of the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s latest research papers, “State Authority to Execute Immigration Law Under Existing Federal Statute”, was featured as part of the agenda of the National Sheriffs’ Association’s winter conference in Washington, D.C. today.
TPPF Vice President of Federal Affairs for States Trust, Hon. John Hostettler and Distinguished Senior Fellow for Border Security Rodney Scott addressed members of the Sheriffs’ Border Security Committee, led by Cochise County, Arizona Sheriff Mark Dannels and Brooks County, Texas Sheriff Benny Martinez.
“Combining an understanding of the smuggling industry and the relevant provisions of federal law, it is possible to develop an unprecedented state-based response to the floundering federal approach to securing the border,” Hostettler explained in his paper, which can be read here.
