As the House Public Education Committee prepares to consider the committee substitute version of SB 8, the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Greg Sindelar released the following statement:

“The new version of SB 8 will be unacceptable to the overwhelming majority of Texans, especially the millions of Texas parents and children who are left behind. It doesn’t do enough to strengthen parental rights, increase transparency, improve educational quality, ensure respect for parents, or allow parents to choose the best educational options for their kids.  We are encouraged that Governor Greg Abbott is standing firm in his commitment to parents and students and has signaled he will continue to fight for real reform. TPPF stands with Governor Abbott and the millions of Texas families who deserve the opportunity to do what’s best for their children. We look forward to working with Chairman Buckley and the members of the House Public Education Committee to ensure parents and students are being served by addressing this critical issue.”
