The Texas Public Policy Foundation announced a new agenda to support family formation, lasting marriages, and successful child development in Texas. The Texas Family Success Agenda is founded on the following principles:

  • Texas must restore the family as the building block of society.
  • Texas must understand forming lasting marriages and raising children as positive and desirable ends for individuals and society.
  • Texas must promote paths that support strong and healthy family connections.
  • Texas must be the best state in the nation for married mothers and fathers in which to raise children and direct their education and upbringing.

In accordance with these principles, TPPF’s founding agenda will:

  • Require students in K-12 public schools to receive instruction on the “Success Sequence.”
  • Reduce barriers that cause Texans to put off marriage and family formation, including evaluating current state-funded marriage programs, education on financial literacy and healthy parenting, and providing property tax relief for families.
  • Establish a commission to examine major issues affecting the health and prosperity of men and boys.
  • Require state agencies to assess the connection between family ties and social outcomes for program beneficiaries.
  • Require fathers to begin paying child support from the moment of conception.

“Strong families build strong societies,” said TPPF CEO Greg Sindelar. “The Texas Family Success Agenda will ensure that our Lone Star State fulfills its promise to protect ‘life, liberty, and happiness’ and secure a prosperous foundation for the next generation.”
