Today, the Texas House gave passage to Senate Bill 15, which will allow for more housing supply by removing local regulatory barriers.

“Texans should have the ability to live in the communities they serve without being held back by outdated mandates or local red tape. Senate Bill 15 clears the path for more attainable housing and reaffirms that Texas is a place where opportunity can thrive,” said Jose Melendez, Campaign Director for TPPF’s Taxpayer Protection Project. “We are incredibly grateful for the leadership of Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, Chairman Bettencourt, and Chairman Gates for ensuring more Texans can achieve the American Dream of homeownership.”

“Passage of Senate Bill 15 marks a turning point in the fight for housing affordability. It sends a clear message that Texas will no longer tolerate policies that price working families out of the market,” said John Bonura, Policy Analyst for TPPF’s Taxpayer Protection Project.  “Allowing the free market to react to the real demands of consumers will help ensure that every Texan has a fair shot at homeownership and economic mobility.”
