Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Economist Dr. Vance Ginn issued the following statement on the Texas Senate Finance Committee’s unanimous approval of Senate Bill 9, relating to the constitutional limit on the rate of growth of appropriations.
“We applaud the Texas Senate Finance Committee's passage of SB 9, which would strengthen the state's weak appropriations limit," said Dr. Ginn. "Turning this bill into law would help restrain government spending increases to no more than population growth and inflation so legislators can meet the needs of Texans while leaving more money in taxpayers’ pockets.”
