Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation unequivocally endorsed the set of proposals to secure the southern border released by 28 of Texas’ U.S. House members and members-elect. In “A Commitment to Secure the Border: A Framework for Texans by Texans,” the congressmen and women propose more than a dozen reforms and executive actions to enforce current laws, strengthen the presence and capabilities of law enforcement, and target the cartels responsible for drug smuggling and human trafficking.

“The framework is a comprehensive plan to reverse course at the border and continue the progress that had been made in the years before President Biden took over,” said TPPF CEO Greg Sindelar. “In particular, the federal government must be much more aggressive at targeting the operations and individuals of the criminal cartels that are flooding our country with drugs and illegal aliens and terrorizing our communities. Thankfully, most of these proposals are measures that can be taken immediately and only require the will of the federal government. While, to date, the current president has not shown sufficient interest in addressing the problems at the border, we are hopeful that this plan and pressure from our congressional delegation will convince him to take much needed action.”
