Texas Public Policy Foundation applauds Governor Greg Abbot’s signing today of HB 2622 by Rep. Justin Holland and Sponsored by Sen. Bob Hall in the Senate. This important piece of legislation will protect law abiding Texas gun owners from Federal overreach and prohibits any state entity from enforcing certain Federal firearm, firearm accessories, and firearm ammunition laws that did not exist prior to January 1, 2021.
“We are delighted to see Governor Abbott sign HB 2622, making Texas a “sanctuary state” for lawful gunowners,” said Dr. Derek Cohen, Vice President of Policy for the Texas Public Policy Foundation. “The current administration has made its desire to change who can be a lawful gun owner crystal clear,” Cohen continued, “and its efforts will not be assisted by our public safety officials.”
