Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation applauds the unveiling of H.R. 2, legislation that will help put an end to the Biden administration’s reckless catch-and-release policies. As the Biden administration continues its years-long dereliction of duty at our southern border, resulting in the entry of millions of unvetted illegal aliens into the country, Congress must take action to help re-secure our nations borders.
“This bill streamlines and restores integrity to our asylum process, protects unaccompanied children from human trafficking, ends catch-and-release, and gives our Border Patrol the pay raise they deserve,” said John Hostettler, vice president of TPPF’s States Trust initiative. “With the expiration of Title 42 public health restrictions just days away and more and more Texas mayors declaring emergencies due to surging numbers of migrants entering their communities, it’s imperative that the House of Representatives acts swiftly to pass this border package and send it to the United States Senate, to bring the relief that border communities and the entire country desperately need.”
