The Texas Public Policy Foundation will host a screening of “Rockin’ the Wall,” a documentary on the story of rock music’s part in bringing down the Iron Curtain. The screening will be followed by a discussion with producer Larry Schweikart and Glenn Murdock of the band, Mother’s Finest.

“Rockin’ the Wall,” a film by Larry Schweikart and Marc Leif, makes its stop in Austin for a national tour as part of the 25th anniversary of the fall of Soviet communism. Based on a chapter in Schweikart’s 2010 bestseller, Seven Events that Made America, the film is the story of rock music’s part in bringing down the Iron Curtain. It features rock and rollers from the 60s and 70s, including the Doors, Quiet Riot, Toto, Vanilla Fudge, and a funk-rock group from Atlanta, Georgia, “Mother’s Finest,” who played in East Berlin just two weeks before the Wall fell. “Rockin’ the Wall” features an original soundtrack with musicians in the movie, including several original songs written for the film.

TPPF Vice President of National Initiatives Chuck DeVore recently wrote a review of the film in Breitbart Texas.

Refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
