AUSTIN, Texas – With passage of Senate Bill 18, the Texas Senate has ensured local taxpayers will have more information about property tax rates, according to the vice president of the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
The legislation was authored by State Senator Tommy Williams of the Woodlands.
“This important legislation brings more sunshine to the property tax process by requiring greater disclosure for the taxpayer,” said Michael Quinn Sullivan.
Sullivan said the Senate should be congratulated for decisively passing the measure with 26 votes.
“Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst, Sen. Williams and their colleagues demonstrated great leadership in the effort to offer greater accountability in taxation.”
