AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation and its allies will hold a press conference on MONDAY, April 20, at 1:00 p.m. CDT, in the Speaker’s Committee Room in the Texas State Capitol. Members of the local pension reform coalition will call for decisive action from the 84th Texas Legislature to restore local control of state-governed municipal retirement systems.
Following the press conference, the House Committee on Pensions is scheduled to hold hearing on House Bill 2608, which seeks to restore local control of state-governed municipal retirement systems by granting decision-making rights to the governing body of the sponsoring municipality.
