On Wednesday, February 21st, the 1836 Project Advisory Committee, which includes TPPF CEO Greg Sindelar and TPPF Distinguished Senior Fellow Sherry Sylvester, will hold a meeting at the African American Museum of Dallas.

The Committee will review the next installment in TPPF’s short film series, Forging Texas. “Making of a Classic” is produced by Stephen Robinson and Martin Jones. The film chronicles a moment on set during the filming of the 1941 film, The Blood of Jesus by filmmaker Spencer Williams. Williams’ film was one of the most successful of the so-called “race films” of that era.

The 1836 Project Advisory Commission was established in the 87th Legislative Session by House Bill 2497 in order to ensure the every Texan is informed of the state’s history and founding principles including how those principles continue to contribute to Texas’ prosperity today.
