AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s (TPPF) Center for Economic Freedom Policy Analyst Kathleen Hunker will testify before the Texas House Transportation Committee TODAYThursday, March 19, at 8:00 a.m. CDT in Room E2.012 of the Texas State Capitol. Ms. Hunker will testify on House Bill 565, which relates to powers of private toll project entities.

“The Texas Legislature previously determined that the risk of giving private toll road companies the power of eminent domain far outweighed any public benefit,” said Hunker. “However, thanks to a legal loophole, one company retains the power to take property without the owner’s consent. House Bill 565 fixes that omission and ensures that any future project will be subject to strict oversight and accountability.”
