Washington, DC — As Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell vows to bring the FIRST STEP Act to the Senate Floor for a long-awaited vote in the coming days, Right on Crime Signatories, conservative leaders, and grassroots activists will gather to show their support for the bill at a press conference with Sen. Mike Lee, Thursday, Dec. 13 at 2 pm on Capitol Hill.
Conservatives have led the fight for reforms at both the federal and state level. Legislation in red states like Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Georgia are the foundation for this ‘first step’ at the federal level that prioritizes public safety, reduces recidivism and saves taxpayer dollars. After a tremendous effort, led by the White and these activist groups, the House and Senate are now working together in a unique way to ensure that the bill passes this year.
