Public pension debt continues to soar, but community stakeholders in some of Texas’ biggest cities can’t do anything to bring down the swelling. The lack of local pension control was the subject of vigorous debate earlier this month at the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s 14^th annual Policy Orientation panel: “The Untouchables: A Look at Local Retirement Systems Protected by State Law.”
