11:45 am – Lunch – Keynote Remarks by Richard Fisher, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas

The Issue:

Public services and infrastructure for a rapidly growing population comes at a price. To pay for these, the Legislature has imposed a myriad of taxes on Texans. The implementation of almost 4,000 property taxes, a state sales tax, and a burdensome margin tax have led the Tax Foundation to lower the state’s business-tax climate ranking to 11th in the nation.

The Texas model has been a beacon of hope for the entire country, but the Texas tax model hasn’t kept up. It is past time for tax reform to meet the challenges facing the Lone Star State by funding essential services and infrastructure while doing the least harm to individuals and entrepreneurs.

Join us for this special policy conference where we will hear from Texas' leading economists on the issues of taxation, transportation, health care, education, and water. Stay for a complimentary lunch and keynote from Richard Fisher, the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. This half-day conference will shape the debate in front of the 84th Legislature, so join us and get in on the ground floor!
