The Facts: Human Trafficking is the exploitation of men, women, and children for forced labor or sex by a third party for profit or gain. Texas is estimated to be 2nd in the nation for the most amount of trafficking victims* with more than 300,000 in the state**, and 79,000 of these victims are child sex-trafficking victims.** The Human Trafficking and Transnational/Organized Crime (HTTOC) Section was formally announced by Attorney General Paxton in January 2016, and the OAG now has a team of 11 employees dedicated to the investigation and prosecution of human trafficking crimes.

The Film: The OAG’s training film “Be The One” premiered in January 2018 and has been viewed by more than 80,000 people in 48 states and 76 countries. Governor Greg Abbott has also asked that all Texas state agency employees be trained with the film.
