Politicians from New York, California, and other big-government states have filed a bill in Congress known as the “Green New Deal,” supported by numerous presidential candidates, cosponsored by more than 80 Members of Congress and even backed by the French government.

“Green New Deal”-style policies have already begun to invade Texas, and could have drastic effects on our livelihoods. Here’s what you should know about the Green New Deal:

  • Tens of thousands of families in Texas now pay over $1,200 more per year in higher energy costs due to enforced “wind power” and electricity purchased from the French government.
  • It will transform the entire U.S. economy from free markets toward socialism, and fund the plan through enormous new taxes and debt, with cost estimates at $93 trillion ($600,000 per household).
  • It will impose taxes on 80% of our energy sources in order to eliminate them. This means gas-powered cars and passenger air travel will be eliminated. It will also force expensive renovation of all homes and office buildings, force the use of unreliable wind and solar power, and micro-manage workplaces.
  • The “global-warming” hysteria that causes people to back the Green New Deal has been disproven as “junk science,” refuted by work published by respected experts through the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF).

All of these things threaten and will eventually take away your liberties.
