For years, family farmers and other small-business owners have faced costly OSHA mandates, inspections, and penalties—sometimes for minor technical or paperwork violations, even when no one has been injured.

One family-owned Texas company operated for nearly 80 years without a single OSHA fine. Then one inspection resulted in eight citations and more than $43,000 in penalties for issues involving a ladder, a training technicality, and workplace clutter.

Now, a group of these farmers is carrying that grit into court.

Represented at no charge by TPPF’s legal arm, the Center for the American Future, they are challenging OSHA’s sweeping authority—and they are prepared to take their case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
