Rod Bordelon is an attorney and regulatory and legislative affairs consultant in Austin, Texas with over 30 years of experience in insurance, workers’ compensation, and health law.

He is an eleven term gubernatorial appointee, former Commissioner of Workers’ Compensation, and former Public Insurance Counsel.

As Commissioner he implemented extensive reforms to the workers’ compensation system in Texas, resulting in significant cost savings, a fifty percent drop in the rates of insurance premiums and increased performance within the regulatory agency. His achievements include adopting the first in the nation pharmacy formulary for workers’ compensation, implementing improved treatment and fee guidelines, increasing medical review and enforcement penalties, and streamlining and expediting dispute resolution.

As Public Insurance Counsel, he negotiated and successfully negotiated numerous insurance company rate and form filings and was instrumental in implementing flexible rate and form review procedures, reducing regulatory delays and increasing competition within the industry.

Rod is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and South Texas College of Law in Houston.
