A Dallas-native now living in the West Texas oil patch, Lauren Melear serves as the Public Affairs Manager of CrownQuest Operating and the West Texas Bureau Chief for Empower Texans/Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.

As a writer for Empower Texans’ Texas Scorecard, Lauren’s interest in policy and appreciation for citizen engagement began as a teenager, where she witnessed firsthand the damaging effect corrupt and inefficient government can have on a country while traveling for mission trips in Central America.

Lauren pursued this interest at Texas A&M as an International Studies (Politics and Diplomacy) major and Economics minor. She also served as a senator in A&M’s Student Government Association, a representative to the Student Conference on National Affairs and continued to travel – this time as a volunteer in Peru and study abroad student in Spain.

Prior to working at CrownQuest and Empower Texans, Lauren served as the member services and government affairs coordinator in Houston and worked in fundraising at the United Way of Midland.

Lauren and her husband, Ben, reside in Midland and are expecting their first child, a daughter, in June. When not working, she enjoys cooking, working out, hanging out with their goldendoodle, and planning the next house project.
