Jody A. Gibson joined the Texas Public Policy Foundation in February 2015.
A former senior lecturer and sequence head for advertising at Texas State University-San Marcos, Gibson was co-advisor for the 2005 National Student Advertising Competition Team from Texas State that won the American Advertising Federation’s student competition for client Yahoo, Inc!. Her team also finished third in the U.S. in 2004 for client VisitFlorida, promoting Florida tourism.
She has held a variety of positions in education and healthcare, including marketing and public relations director for a community college system in Iowa, to hospital services coordinator, educating ER and ICU nurses and physicians about organ donation.
Gibson is a native of Sioux City, Iowa, and holds a bachelor of arts in journalism and secondary education from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She also has a master of arts degree in mass communication with an emphasis in crisis communication from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
An Austinite since 2000, Gibson is mother to two sons, Jordan Gibson of Boston, Mass., and Justin Gibson, also of Austin.
