Mike Garcia is the former director of legislative affairs for the Foundation and has over a decade of experience working for different Texas House members spanning the political spectrum. While attending the University of Texas, he served as an intern for President George W. Bush’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, where he was tasked with working with state legislators from across the country on various White House initiatives.
Mike’s passion for liberty developed after he was gifted a copy of Frederick Bastiat’s classic essay The Law. During his time at St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio, he clerked at the Pacific Legal Foundation where he fought for liberty and individual rights by helping litigate against property encroachments by federal, state, and local governments.
Mike is an active member of various organizations including the Knights of Columbus, the Federalist Society, and serves as an adjunct professor of political science at Concordia University in Austin. He enjoys hunting, cooking, and playing guitar, and lives in Austin with his wife and daughter where they are parishioners of St. Mary’s Cathedral in the heart of downtown.
