TPPF’s CEO Greg Sindelar released the following statement:
The Texas Public Policy Foundation has two qualities that will never change. First, we are focused upon Texas first, and Texas always. Second, we are genuinely nonpartisan: if the officeholders of one party consult our work more than those of another, that’s a reflection on them, not us. Our nonpartisan status extends to campaigns and elections, from which we have stood consciously apart in all our thirty-five years.
All that said: today is a great day for America.
We can say that because there’s a third quality about this Foundation that will never change: we exist and we labor in the political reality that is necessary to take our ideas to action. This is the only time I’ll ever paraphrase Karl Marx, but the canny old enemy of freedom got one thing right: the point is not just to understand the world, but to change it.
Well, today, the American people in their wisdom made it possible to change it — for the better. The decisive reelection of President Donald J. Trump, along with Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, opens new and exciting vistas for action from Texas to America. In the first Trump term, our Foundation went from strength to strength advocating for Texas in Washington, D.C.. In the new Trump term, we’ll be pressing hard on issues that matter to Texas — first and foremost on the border, on which Texans cannot wait for real security and solutions, but also in healthcare, in energy, in state sovereignty, in education, and much more.
We’ll be pressing hard — and the good news is, now we know we’ll have a Presidency and an Administration who will work with us, as partners and friends. It makes all the difference.
I can’t leave you with a Marx quote, so here’s one from a past generation’s champion of freedom, Margaret Thatcher: “Just rejoice at the news.”
Rejoice indeed. America is back.
