AUSTIN – Texas Public Policy Foundation Director of the Center for Education Freedom Kent Grusendorf issued the following statement on the passage today in the Texas Senate of Senate Bill 4, which would create Tax Credit Scholarships for parents or legal guardians of eligible students to use to pay for the costs of attending a private school:

“The Texas Senate should be commended for passing SB4, which will open the door for school choice in Texas. School choice is very popular with Texas voters and members of the Senate are to be praised for standing up for Texas citizens despite strong opposition from those who have a vested interest in the status quo. We look forward to the day in which all Texas children have the ability to enroll in a school that maximizes their potential, that prepares them for economic success, and that gives them all the tools they need to pursue happiness in our great state.”
