AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation congratulates Texas state Rep. Dennis Bonnen, R-Angleton, on his Monday announcement that he has secured the votes to become the next Speaker of the Texas House.
“When lawmakers convene in January, they’ll have a unique opportunity to make progress on some of the most pressing challenges Texans face,” said TPPF Executive Director Kevin Roberts. “The Texas Public Policy Foundation stands ready to work alongside Rep. Bonnen, his leadership team and all legislators in building a better Texas for us all.”
In his press conference, Rep. Bonnen said “the Texas House is ready to go to work,” and specifically cited school finance reform as a top priority.
TPPF on Monday released its analysis of what school finance reform could mean to Texas – more jobs, a better economy and a better return-on-investment for what Texans pay into the public school system.
